Gigabyte adds “Intel Baseline” support to their Z790 and B760 motherboards
Over recent months, we have seen a large number of reports that Intel 13th and 14th Generation Raptor Lake CPUs have been found to be unstable in specific games. These issues appear to be caused by the overly high CPU settings that motherboard manufacturers use on high-end Intel processors. Now, Gigabyte has added a new “Intel Baseline” setting to their Z790 and B760 motherboards, enabling “superior stability”.
These new “Intel Baseline” settings will lower the overall performance of Intel’s latest CPUs. The aggressive settings enabled by motherboard manufacturers have their advantages after all. That said, these settings have lead to instability in games like Hogwarts Legacy, Tekken 8, Outpost: Infinity Siege, and others.
To access the new “Intel Baseline” mode on Gigabyte motherboards, users need to navigate to the “Turbo Power Limits” option under “Advanced CPU settings”. Once enabled, your CPU will be running using Intel’s Baseline performance profile.
With lower TDP settings and no tweaks from your motherboard’s manufacturer, we can expect this new profile to lower the performance of the systems that use it. The good news is that these settings will give you a more stable system. Beyond that, these settings will also make your CPU run cooler. In games, this change may not affect system performance that much. After all, not many games place all CPU cores under heavy loads, which reduces the impact of lowered TDP limits. That said, scores in all-core benchmarks or workloads will suffer greatly.

When using 13th and 14th generation K-SKU CPUs, the Intel Baseline setting will appear in the “Turbo Power Limits” option under “Advanced CPU Settings”. After enabling Intel Baseline, the performance will be expected to be limited due to the power setting adjustments.
If users aim for enhanced and optimized performance, we also provide the GIGABYTE PerfDrive feature tailored for each GIGABYTE motherboard to allow users enjoy premier system performance. Please note that when enabling Intel Baseline, the PerfDrive settings will revert to default and be grayed out due to option linkage.

Gigabyte’s “Intel Baseline” profiles are now available on the latest Beta BIOS releases for their Intel Z790 and B760 motherboards. Non-beta versions of these BIOS updates should be available soon. We also expect these updates to come to Z690 and B660 motherboards in the near future.
