Up Close - Packaging and Freebies

When you open the box you certainly wont be left wondering whether they've sent you the Camo Squad model or accidentally given you a different one. Blimey. With the Camo Squad laptop you get two boxes, one containing the laptop and one containing the freebies. With the freebies you get a matching desert camo rucksack/laptop bag with MSI branding. We had a slight chuckle at that. What's the point in providing something that will help you blend in with your surroundings and then stick bright red MSI logos all over the outside? But, of course, despite being desert camouflage it is designed for urban environments and not life and death situations in the Middle East so it's a moot point. You also get a camouflaged mouse mat and drinks bottle, should you want to put your drink down on the beach and never find it again.

Thankfully - for our eyes at least - the GE62 itself is in a regular MSI Apache Pro package, and comes with all the manuals and warranty documents you would expect. We have to mention that the charger is one of the slimmest and lightest that we've experienced, perfect for portability without feeling like you've become a hod-carrier in your spare time. You can also spot the Ghost Recon Wildlands redemption card, which gives you a full copy of the game as well as the Season Pass. We could rant for months about the gaming markets trend towards Season Passes, paying nearly the full price of a game again for as yet unmentioned DLC. Whatever happened to buying a game and getting it all? Man, we're old.

Anyway, let's move on and take a look at the laptop itself.

Hmmmm... 12 year old me would love it. Now if it was urban or winter I'd still love it now. Just wouldn't be seen in public with it.

At least they're up for making stuff like that. How many iClones and none more black laptops can there be? It's like the days of the beige boxes all over again so it's good to see a point of difference. Even if it's not to many peoples tastes.Quote

Had a quick read of the conclusion and LOLed. Mostly because my first thought was "Man, if you rocked up at Costa Coffee with one of these people would think you were a terrorist" and then I see you mention a certain terrorist group in the comments.

Will read it more in depth later when I get home.Quote
