Crucial MX200 1TB SSD Review

There is a lot to be said for the simplicity of a Solid State Drive. You just plug it in and instantly have lots of fast storage. The Crucial MX200 is an SSD, which does make for a conclusion destined for brevity rather than verbose explanations.
This capability to be summed up in a few words isn't particularly helped by the performance of the Crucial MX200. It's neither the fastest drive we've ever tested, nor the slowest. There are no obvious flaws in it's capabilities either, with the MX200 proving to be just as happy writing 4K blocks as it is reading a giant sequential file. It doesn't leave us much to discuss. We don't want to shout from the rooftops about game-changing speeds, although it is worth mentioning that such relentless consistency is a positive trait in itself. Neither do we wish to lambaste it for any holes in its performance. Because it's so consistently good in everything we threw at it.
Certainly if you're in the market for a Solid State Drive and want it to be huge in capacity and, if you'll pardon the expression, solid in performance you could do much worse than seeking out the Crucial MX200. It's extremely affordable, costing only 35 Pence per GB. The days of £350 only buying you 256GB are long behind us.
It's everything you want from an SSD, with the write speeds a highlight amongst an extremely well-rounded product. Such a complete product deserves your complete attention, and it obtains our OC3D Gold Award.
