Crucial MX200 1TB SSD Review

Introduction and Technical Specifications

Crucial MX200 1TB SSD Review

We've seen a few Crucial SSDs in recent times with all of them providing gobs of capacity and good speeds for a very affordable price.

With the MX200 this ethos is further expanded into a product that supports every SSD technology you can think of. As well as supporting SMART, vital to give you early warning of a possibly failing drive, the MX200 supports Active Garbage Collection and TRIM which both keep your drive performing at the peak of its performance regardless of how long you've been using the drive.

The model we have on review today is a gigantic SSD at 1TB. When we first saw SSDs in all their 40GB glory we couldn't imagine a 1TB capacity. In fact it seemed so far in the future we almost used it as a joke. But here we are. We all know what to expect from an SSD, so let's discover whether Crucial have had to compromise any performance to obtain such a large drive at such a low price.

Technical Specifications

There are some different form factors for the MX100 but we're concentrating upon the 2.5" drive that we have up for review today. Included in the package is the Acronis image software that will enable you to upgrade to the MX200 without having to reinstall everything. Very useful indeed.
