Kingston Hyper X 2000MHz Review

Kingston Hyper X 2000MHz

For our testing we're putting the Hyper X against the longest serving 2000MHz kit around, the Corsair Dominator GT, to see how it fairs.

Sisoft Sandra

Both 2000MHz kits perform almost identically here and the extra performance we get from our extra 100MHz on both the memory and CPU allow the overclocked Hyper X to just pull ahead.

Moving on to the Multi-Media test the results are nearly perfectly duplicated with both the Hyper X and Dominator GT being neck and neck, but the extra grunt when overclocked allows the Hyper X to pull ahead.

One of the things that makes the above results a little suprising is the latencies. The Hyper X is 0.9ns faster than the GT which, when we consider how many operations are being performed, should lead to a good gain. Which it so far hasn't done.

Cryptography demands incredible amounts of processing power and finally we see the Kingston Hyper X just edging into the lead over the Corsair Dominator GT.

Awesome review dude, I love the heatsinks as well. Out of interest (as you might have swayed me with this one) what heatsink are you using in the set up and is it in a 'pull' config as it won't fit against the ram if it's on 'push'? Would be awesome to know if it would fit with my Titan Fenrir in there. Cheers.Quote

The heatsink there is a Xigmatec Thors Hammer, the fenrir should be fine though.

Working? No chance I'm sat in a coffee shop in Regent Street!Quote

Cheers dude, I think I'll almost definitely get me some of this sweetness. Was gonna get some good 1600MHz stuff, but when this has the same latencies with a massive 400MHz boost for only £15 more, I don't think I really have a choice now do I?

Glad to hear OC3D doesn't keep you locked up permanently, means you can enjoy some of this peculiarly nice weather we've been having during the usually monsoon-like April Quote
