When we usually look at memory we are looking at kits that offer mind-bending speeds and have price tags that are just as daunting. Instead of buying high-speed kits a lot of people prefer to buy kits that offer large capacities for the price, or offer great aesthetics, which is exactly what Crucial has done with their new Ballistix Sport LT Red DDR4 memory kits.

When DDR4 was first released it was a very expensive memory standard, but ever since the release of Skylake prices have seen a significant reduction, especially if you are looking to buy large capacity 8GB or 16GB DIMMs

At right now Crucial are only offering these memory kits in their online store as single DIMMs, but we expect these to be available in stores soon.  Judging from the current prices on their store the memory will cost £35.98 for a 2x4GB kit, £62.38 for a 2x8GB and £143.98 for a 2x16GB kit, making these kits very affordable.

In recent years, we have seen a large number of red parts come into the PC market, from pretty much every manufacturer. These new memory DIMMs would look right at home with the ASUS, MSI and even Gigabyte Gaming Series motherboards, all of which have some red colouring.

While it is currently only available in 2400MHz versions, this kit is still a solid performer, with speeds much higher than most DDR3 kits, while consuming much less power. With Standard DDR3 running at 1.35v-1.65v this kit's operating voltage of a mere 1.2v will ensure that this kit remains cool and consumes barely any power.

Conclusion

With the wide range of red PC parts on the market, there is a huge demand for some affordable memory to use with it, which is exactly where Crucial's Ballistix Sport LT Red DDR4 memory comes in. This memory offers everything that potential users will need, with decent memory speeds of 2400MHz, low operation voltages of 1.2v and a fantastic aesthetic.

Usually, with cheaper memory we would expect the aesthetic to be let down by a green PCB, but Crucial Ballistix Red DIMMs features a nice black PCB, allowing this memory to really shine in the looks department.

When it comes to pricing these DIMMs are also pretty hard to beat, with 4GB DIMMs being available on Crucial's own website for a mere £17.99, and their availability as individual DIMMs allows users to pretty much design their own kits to suit their needs, whether they need a dual channel or a quad channel kit.

If you want red memory in your build this memory is almost a total no-brainer, coming in at a great price and without a ghastly green PCB. The speed of this memory may not be the highest out there, but that does mean that this DDR4 kit runs at low voltages and consumes very little power under load.

This memory looks great, comes at an affordable price and at speeds which are by no means slow when compared to standard DDR3. Crucial have done a great job with this set of memory, ticking all appropriate boxes from, price to performance and even aesthetics, this kit is easily a set that we can recommend to any fans of white PCs out there.
