Roccat Suora FX Frameless Keyboard Review

Roccat Suora FX Frameless Keyboard Review

Introduction

Desk space is at a premium as our monitors get bigger and more and more peripherals find their way onto our desks. Anyone with a pretty heavy gaming habit has to find room for a steering wheel, a HOTAS, perhaps a Dualshock or Xbox pad, as well as speakers, mouse mats, giant monitor bases, network hubs and all the detritus that forms part of a modern PC nerds life.

So it is no surprise that more manufacturers are looking to adopt a frameless design on their keyboards to save a few precious millimetres here and there. It is a nice regression from some of the keyboard designs we’ve seen that have acres of extraneous plastic surrounding the keyboard, and whilst it might not be as genuinely space saving as going for a tenkeyless design to begin with, we think the importance of the numpad cluster is far too high to do without, so we applaud this size zero direction.

In the keyboard world Roccat are probably more famous for their non-mechanical keyboards than they are for a mechanical offering, so when the Suora FX Frameless arrived in our office we were intrigued to see what it had to offer and how Roccat fare in this most cut-throat sector of the peripheral world.
