Creative Sound BlasterX Vanguard K08 RGB Keyboard Review

Introduction

The second part of our look at the new peripherals from the Sound BlasterX arm of Creative is the Vanguard K08 keyboard. An RGB Mechanical Gaming keyboard it ticks all the boxes that you would expect to find on a list of 'things that modern keyboards should have'. In our review of the Siege M04 mouse we found it to be an excellent suite of hardware let down by the software, so hopefully the Vanguard K08 continues the excellent hardware trend whilst righting the software wrongs.

Technical Specifications

Keyboard usually have little to shout about in their technical specifications and the Vanguard K08 doesn't have any at all beyond those found on the reverse of the packaging. It's an RGB keyboard with Omron switches, a supplied wrist rest, dedicated media and macro keys and a USB pass through. Otherwise it's business as usual so let's take a closer look.

Nice review Brian but don't hold your breath waiting for the software updates as Creative are notoriously slow with their updatesQuote

I concur! I've had enough of Creative products and I refuse to buy them, unless they function without software (like my speakers).Quote

Yup naming fail and pricing fail.

Would have been cool if they had actually fitted a reasonable USB sound card into the keyboard with headphone/mic for non USB headsets though.Quote

You know what. That would be a smart idea. Considering they have USB sounds cards. It could be connected by passthrough and embedded in the head of the keyboard.Quote
