Cougar 300M Gaming Mouse Review

We've mentioned in the past how easy it is to produce a high-end product. Or rather how much easier it is relative to producing an item at the lower end of the price spectrum. Anyone who has tried to build a PC to a budget will spot the difficulties inherent in fiscal restrictions.
Cougar have, so far, produced a raft of peripherals that we've enjoyed very much. Some good design choices have left them with a range of items which have a visual thread running through them enabling the entire line to have a harmonious design. Quality component choice has backed up this design philosophy and made them serious players in the gaming mouse sector.
The 300M is the oddball of the Cougar range. It doesn't really, bright orange shades aside, look like any of the others. Still along as the underpinning parts are good, Cougar should be onto another winner.
Following a swathe of mice with ever more headline grabbing DPI figures it's nice to see the 300M equipped with a 4000DPI Optical sensor. Yes it's nice to move your pointer from one side of a 4K monitor to the other simply by breathing heavily on it, but fine control and accurate pointer movements are, at the very least, just as important. With 7 customisable buttons and supported by the excellent Cougar UIX software, on paper this should be good.
