Packaging is one of the curious things that we all put a lot of stock in. The "event" of opening a highly coveted item keeps entire Youtube channels in business. You want the theatre of revealing the contents of your chosen purchase to give you a great first impression and lead you to believe your money has been spent wisely.

But let's be honest. Once you have opened the box it usually just sits in a cupboard somewhere. When you're trying to maximise your value for money it would be stupid to spend it all on a box that you put away, and so the very flimsy packaging for the Fortus isn't a negative at all. Would you rather have £40 of the £45 going towards the mouse itself or the package? Exactly.

That viewpoint is perfectly encapsulated once you get the Cerberus Fortus free of its cardboard confines. It feels like a quality item in your hand and looks the business too. With the box out of sight it seems like a much more expensive item than it actually is, and that's just how we like it. Value for money is something we all strive for, no matter how large or small our budgets.

Viewed from the top the Fortus is a mouse with some serious hips. The scrollwheel has some transparent portions to allow the lights to shine, behind that we have the DPI adjustment button, which also has some button combinations to allow you to control the lighting freed from any software requirements.

On the underside there are four small low-friction feet. There is plenty of space to utilise larger ones if you so desire, but out of the box there is still enough coverage to help keep the Fortus gliding over your gaming surface of choice.

Whilst the feet might be small, the textured grips on the side panels are huge, covering pretty much the entirety of both sides. No matter your grip style or finger length the Cerberus Fortus will always be under your control.

Lastly the cable is braided - great to see at this price point - and plenty long enough to allow you freedom of placement. Let's get a look at it all lit up before we wrap this up.

I like it. Just wish it came with some replacement switches like the higher priced ones (would be happy paying extra).Quote
