With the launch of the updated Nvidia Super range of cards we've seen a big shift in both the performance of the relative cards as well as a newly aggressive pricing strategy from Nvidia.
If you were with us for our review of the Nvidia Founders Edition RTX 2070 Super you'll have seen how the stock performance was akin to an overclocked regular RTX 2070, whilst the overclocked Super was challenging the RTX 2080 in the performance stakes. It's an impressive piece of silicon.
Naturally although Nvidia have improved their cooling design in recent times there is still a lot to be said for the partner cards with a more comprehensive cooling solution, and we were excited to see how better cooling might unleash yet more frames per second from this newly updated Turing GPU. With the Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 2070 Super in our hands it is time to find out whether the RTX 2070 Super has anything more to give, or if the combination of the twin fan Nvidia cooler and boosted performance of the Founders Edition was as good as it got.
As always there is only one way to find out, and it involves our GPU test system and a grands worth of games.
There are a few models in the Gigabyte RTX Super range, but we know how popular the ones with a factory overclock are, and in the form of the Gaming OC card there is a bit of a boost over the reference Nvidia speeds. We're going to overclock it anyway to find out how much it has to give before it cries enough. We wouldn't be doing our job if we didn't.
