ASUS ROG Strix Gaming RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti Review

Test Setup and Overclocking

Test Setup

As we have done since our first review of the RTX cards, today we'll be sorting our graphs by the 4K result. These two GPUs are very much the flagship nVidia products, and so seeing how they perform at 1080P, when lots of cards already have plentiful performance there, would be pointless. Nobody is spending the thick end of a grand of a GPU to run it on a 15" monitor.

RTX 2080

Of the two types of Turing GPU, the TU104 that beats at the heart of the RTX 2080 overclocks a little higher and harder than the TU102 that is found in the RTX 2080Ti. The ASUS Strix take upon it continues this trend.

RTX 2080Ti

Whilst the RTX 2080 might be similar in clock speeds to the nVidia and MSI take upon the breed, the Strix RTX 2080Ti manages to clock a reasonable amount further than we've seen up to now. This is best shown on our clock speed graph on the next page, so read on.

Good review, as always.
Can't help by wonder why you didn't included the Strix 1080Ti OC in these tests?
And i'm still going to wait on more tests before even considering placing an order.Quote

I like the ASUS kit but Tom you're spot on. The premium on this thing is ridiculous especially when compared to the MSI for example.

The other thing that's mad is that for that price they couldn't even braid or blackout the connector cables that dangle out the side of the cooler.

Poor show ASUS, poor show indeed!Quote

Considering they use automatic assembly now you'd think the price would decrease if there's less wages to pay.

They're £200 more than MSI trio and not enough ahead in performance to justify that and the MSI cards look just as good now, I've always admited I'm an Asus fanboy but if I was looking at selling 1 of my testicles or both to get 1 of these i'd go MSI and a good sized M.2 to go with itQuote

Eddie long
I have got to agree with the Guv on the pricing on these . I know i'm a bit of and Asus fan ,and it looks like they have done a pretty good job on these with performance , but for me 1500 of my hard earned pounds is just too much to swallowQuote
