Looking at mountainous terrain we can see that there is little graphical difference between the graphical presets, apart from the addition of some terrain details in the terrain like the addition of trees or an increase in terrain texture resolution. 

 

       

 

In battle, we see the largest differences between the graphical presets in the game with the higher settings adding additional lighting effects to projectiles and beam weapons.  Moving up the graphical settings will make large battle much more visually appealing, but with so many units and weapons firing at once these graphical changes may have a huge performance impact.
