Intel Skylake i5 6600K & i7 6700K 1151 Z170 Review

Intel Skylake i5-6600K and i7-6700K Review

The first thing to note is, like all of our other 3D tests today, we're utilising the onboard graphics. So whilst the OpenGL results might not be as eye-grabbing as some others, bear in mind it's not a dedicated 3D solution.

For R11.5 we've included a lot of older CPUs just to give you a feel of how things have progressed. It's not something we regularly do, nor indeed can due to the ever changing benchmark suite here at OC3D. It's good fun though, and shows that those of you with a speedy i7-990X can still feel relatively good about your purchase.

Unsurprisingly there is no replacement for displacement as the CPUs with the most threads perform the best. The i7-6700K still mixes it with some very heavy hitters and the i5-6600K makes the most of its four cores.

Will be interesting to see how much the CPU actually makes a difference in gaming with a dedicated GPU Quote
