Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Xtreme Review

Introduction

With any new chipset launch there is always a big variety of motherboards from which to choose. On the one hand you have those motherboards which understand that modern chipsets are always consistent across the board and therefore give you the bare minimum of flash and flair, going all in on providing you with an affordable platform. In the middle there are the huge selection of models from a variety of well-known brands which provide you a plentiful choice in aesthetic, price and feature set.

Then, at the top end, your choice narrows as in a metaphorical pyramid. If you wish to just go for the very best a particular brand has to offer then you, largely, have to take it in the form it comes.

The peak of the Gigabyte range is their Aorus Xtreme. A motherboard which causes our fingers no end of grief as we automatically type extreme. It does smack of the Monster energy world, but hey perhaps we're just out of the loop of what counts as "hey fellow kids". However, the important thing is what lays behind the name, and Gigabyte have thrown the kitchen sink at the Aorus Xtreme, from lighting to PCB design and connection format. We'll let you peruse the specifications and show you the motherboard in our usual high detail on the next few pages.
