ASUS Z87 Maximus VI Formula Review

Test Setup

ASUS Z87 Maximus VI Formula
Intel Core i7-4770K
Club3D HD7970 Royal Ace
Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400MHz
Corsair AX1200i
Corsair Neutron GTX
Corsair H100i
Windows 7 x64

Considering that this is allegedly the lesser of the two big ROG boards from ASUS we're delighted that it attained a rock solid stable 4.9GHz on our Core i7-4770K at a very reasonable 1.26v on the VCore. With 2400MHz memory and 4.9GHz on the CPU, there is no doubt that the Formula is a good overclocker.

Power Draw

The Formula is one of the higher power drawing motherboards that we've tested, although of course they are all within 20 Watts of each other so we're hardly talking deal-breaking territory, even if you never turn your system off.
