ASUS Z370 Maximus X Hero Review

The ability to customise your rig to its fullest and truly make it your own is the key feature on all products these days. We have quickly gone from no lighting at all to full RGB lighting including onboard LEDs and, in the case of the ASUS ROG product range, even the ability to 3D print your own custom parts so that even the most individuality-obsessed user can be safely assured that their system wont be similar to that of anyone else.

It is somewhat ironic that as the main two companies - Intel and AMD - have refined their designs to be way more efficient and thus run much cooler than models of old, so have the motherboard manufacturers placed an even larger emphasis on giving you all the tools necessary to keep your system as cool as possible. The Maximus X Hero is a particular star here with AIO pump headers, plenty of fan headers and even water flow monitoring to ensure there aren't any snags in your layout. An excellent showing.

I know you can only love or hate RGB, but I honestly think, there could be more lights on this board. Other than that, I want it!!! Sadly DDR5 is - not exactly around the corner, but - coming soon, so I might just wait that little longer until I upgrade from my 4770k setup...Quote

I'm in the market for a new motherboard, and I'm stuck between the maximus 10 hero and the rampage 6 extreme. Besides the newer wireless and 10GB/s internet ports, what exactly would I be buying for $650.00 that the maximus 10 hero doesn't have, and what more can the rampage do that the hero can't?Quote

You can get extreme capabilities in overclocking potential.

If the Hero has everything you need, you can just get the Hero. It'll overclock as far as the Maximus will for people on air or water. The Maximus is really for LN2.Quote
