The ASUS OC socket enables you to go for higher overclocks and/or lower voltages. Given that there is a point after which we'd sacrifice a lower overall overclock for the capability to run cooler and more power efficient, we like the way that ASUS have gone with their OC socket. It's preferable to the simpler 'unlocking higher voltages' concept that we've seen elsewhere. This overclock here matches the Rampage Extreme point for point including 3000MHz memory and is 100% stable, its worth noting this is a level that we have not matched with other brands at all yet.....

The most immediate benefit is unquestionably the simplicity of running at higher memory speeds without any fiddling about. Into the BIOS, select your XMP of choice, boom. Problem solved. That might sound like stating something so obvious it isn't worthy of mention. As anyone who has attempted to run beyond the 3000MHz barrier will tell you though, it's extremely rare that it's so beautifully simple. This again is an achievement unmatched by any other brand, being able to XMP 3200MHz and 3300MHz memory with no intervention required is so refreshing when we have found ourselves having to put a huge amount of time and effort in just to get 3000MHz running on other brands boards.
