ASUS X99 Deluxe II Review

Introduction

Deluxe is a word which has somewhat lost its meaning as mankind moves inexorably towards a world in which even superlatives such as Ultra have been overused to the point of inadequacy. Everything is premium. Everything is exceptional. Everything is luxurious. It means it's exceptionally difficult to adequately express the importance of something which really does break the mould, or go above and beyond.

That brings us neatly to the ASUS X99 Deluxe II. A model which unquestionably deserves the Deluxe moniker, particularly when you look closely at what is has to offer. Certainly the majority of X99 motherboards are hardly barren when it comes to features and connectivity options, but even by these high standards we think you'll be impressed by what the Deluxe II brings to the table.

Technical Specifications

To say that the X99 Deluxe II comes with everything including the kitchen sink is an understatement. It is filled with all the latest technologies whether it's the high bandwidth storage provided by NVMe and SATA Express, the four USB 3.1 ports, both U.2 and M.2 storage solutions, a Thunderbolt 3 add-in card, or simply the width of DDR4, wherever you look you can be assured that the limiting performance factor wont be the motherboard.

It isn't just high bandwidth that marks the Deluxe II out either. Power is well catered for with both 4 and 8 pin EATX 12v power inputs, and you can keep everything cool with a wealth of fan headers, including a dedicated water pump headers and high amp fan header for those extreme cooling solutions. Network connectivity is handled by twin Intel GigaLANs as well as AC WiFi and Bluetooth 4. Wherever you look, it's a winner. All of these powerful additions are before you even delve into the world of ASUS specific options such as AURA lighting control, ASUS' acclaimed OC Socket, 5 way automatic optimisation, LAN Guard and even robust slots to ensure your weighty PCI Express cards wont damage the Deluxe.
