ASUS ROG Maximus VII Gene Review

Test Setup and Overclocking

ASUS Maximus VII Gene Preview

Test Setup

ASUS Z97 Maximus VII Gene
Intel Core i7-4770K
nVidia GTX780Ti
Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400 & 2933
Corsair AX760i
Corsair Neutron GTX
Corsair H105
Custom Corsair 540 Air
Windows 7 x64

Overclocking

Small but perfectly formed, the ASUS Maximus VII Gene isn't lacking in the overclocking department, capable of running out a 4.9GHz clockspeed without any fuss.

It doesn't seem that long ago that mATX motherboards were only good for HTPC systems. Or maybe we're getting old. Still it's fantastic to see that you're free to choose whichever size PCB best fits your needs without compromising performance capability.

I'm just disappointed that there is no word on the mPCIe Combo card that we find on the Formula and on the Z87 version. And I can't even find it stand-alone to buy.

I would need wifi...

Would appreciate any advice.

Aside from the sound how much different is it from the vi gene? The z87 to z97 jump seems very smallQuote
