Test Setup and Ryzen 7 3700X Overclocking

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and Ryzen 9 3900X Review

Test Setup

One of the great benefits to the AM4 platform is its compatibility, so we are testing these CPUs on both the X470 and X570 platforms to see how the Zen 2 architecture works as a whole, and how much performance you can expect if you drop your new 3rd Generation Ryzen CPU into your existing X470 motherboard.

Ryzen 7 3700X Overclocking

With the latest BIOS in place both the X470 and X570 chipsets are capable of pushing the Ryzen 7 3700X hard, up to 4.4 GHz across all eight cores, with 3600 MHz DDR4. We've also got some DDR4 overclocking tests we'll show you in a moment, where the X570 clearly has the upper hand.

Sick. The 3900x performance metrics are mind boggling.

Seriously, that's an irresponsible amount of multi core performance.

Rock on. Thanks for the hard work guys. I know what my next CPU is going to be Quote

Fantastic performance and it's brilliant to see the 3900X is literally nipping at the heels of the 9900K in gaming, I don't need 16 cores of the 3950X coming in September but the 12 core model is calling my name and I'm doubly happy as the performance difference is negligible between X470/570, Ace review Tom, Appreciate the hard work !

Yeah for sure I think the star of the show is the 3900x. Not to do disservice to the rest but man, what a beast. Over 7000cb. Wow. J.Ju....Just mad.Quote

Thanks so much for all the effort. It's been great going through all the reviews.

I think I might skip X570 and just get an X470 motherboard.Quote
