AMD Ryzen 2nd Generation Specifications - Core Counts, Clock Speeds and Pricing

AMD's Ryzen Threadripper lineup will release in stages, starting first with their 32-core Threadripper 2990WX on Monday, August 13th, and their 16-core Ryzen Threadripper 2950X on Friday, August 31st.

12-core and 24-core models will release sometime in October, rounding off AMD's Ryzen 2nd Generation Threadripper lineup. At this time, AMD has not mentioned a Threadripper 1900X replacement, which seems to indicate that the company doesn't plan to replace their 8-core Threadripper SKU.

Below are all the known specifications of AMD's new Ryzen 2nd Generation Threadripper lineup, as well as the specs of the company's original TR4 offerings.

When comparing similar models on each product generation, we can see that Threadripper 2nd Generation offers higher base and boost clock speeds, with the addition of Ryzen 2nd Generation Precision Boost 2.0 technology should allow Ryzen 2nd Generation Threadripper to offer significantly higher average clock speeds.

The table at the bottom of page 4 has some errors:

The 2970WX will be released on October, while the 2950X (not 2990X) will be released on the 31st of August.

Edit:

On the last page: "look at our preview for MSI's MEG X399 Creation Preview".Quote

Still perfectly relevant

AMD are really going for pure giggles with the 2990WX in price/performance against the i9-7980XE. I had a quick comparison against the 2 and the only thing the i9 wins on is the TDP but that's literally only because it has nearly half the cores. I genuinely hope this decimates the i9s on all frontsQuote
