Introduction - Living up to the S340's legacy

NZXT H500 and H500i Review

For the past few years, NZXT's mid-range case lineup has been top notch, with the S340 quickly becoming a favourite within the PC building community, offering a clean aesthetic, a minimalist feel and an affordable price tag.

Now NZXT plans to surpass even their S340, seeking a build a case with more advanced features, a range of colour options at launch and higher build quality, all while maintaining a low price tag.

The H500 is NZXT's latest mid-range ATX chassis, acting as the cheapest offering in NZXT's new H-series while maintaining a solid feature set. NZXT also offers buyers the ability to pre-configure their case with i-series features, with their H500i variant offering purchasers a vertical GPU mount, two integrated HUE+ RGB LED strips and a built-in HUE+/GRID+ hub.

We have long passed the stage where the removal of 5.25-inch drive bays was a major concern for modern case designs, as PC games and media have for the most part moved from optical storage mediums to the realm of the digital download.

One of the features of the H500 is evident when looking from the outside of the chassis, with the enclosure's tempered glass side panel only extending down three-quarters of the case. The bottom of the case acts as the case's side panel and PSU shroud in one, adding some extra rigidity to the chassis while also serving as a neat aesthetic feature.

Inside the case, there is two 2.5-inch HDD/SSD mounts and space for three 3.5-inch HDDs, with the front I/O supporting two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports alongside standard audio input and output jacks. Below are the full specifications of NZXT's H500/H500i.
