Cooler Master MH703 Earbud Review

Introduction

You don’t have to go back very far into gaming history for handheld gaming to be something that was largely for serious addicts only. Most consoles whomped through batteries at an alarming rate, and nobody needed earphones to play Snake.

Of course as the smartphone revolution exploded handheld gaming became a genuine alternative to ‘real’ games, but the majority of them were match 3 types, or card games, things that really didn’t need a lot of audio to extract the fullest enjoyment from them. Angry Birds was great, everyone played it, but you didn’t need to hear it to rack up the high scores.

So for most of history a pair of earphones/earbuds were largely used to listen to your digital music collection or, if you were fortunate enough to have a pair that had a microphone, shout to your friends that you’re “on the train and will be home soon, just about to go into a tunnel”.

Now most smartphones have incredible processing power and the big players in the gaming industry have realised what enormous riches there are to be had from the mobile market. Our phones are now capable of playing Fortnite, Hearthstone, PUBG and a whole host of games which wouldn’t look out of place on our home consoles. To this end we need a pair of earphones that not only can bring us a wall of sound, but let us direct our team mates to objectives or tell our defeated foes how much we owned them.

Enter Cooler Master and their MH703 Earbuds. With multiple connection possibilities, good frequency response and a built in microphone, they are just as happy plugged into your console pad as they are on the bus mocking of your enemies.
