Backward compatible on all Noctua CPU coolers since 2005
The flow of Core i7 compatible products is gaining momentum in the approach to the November release date. One of the expenses for adoptees of the new CPU's is going to be having to replace their CPU cooling solutions. However, Noctua have come up with a solution, called the SecuFirm2™ mounting kit, which will remove this expense for owners of their CPU coolers. Noctua have announced that they are going to be offering free mounting kits for the new Socket 1366 processors. The mounting kits will enable owners of current and previous CPU (from as far back as 2005) coolers to use them on the new CPU's and motherboards.
All that is required to obtain the new mounting kits is to provide a proof of purchase for the cooler along with proof of purchase for a socket 1366 mainboard or socket 1366 CPU. The proof of purchase will be accepted either as a scan, photo or screenshot of the original. The kits will become available as soon as the new CPU's hit the shelves. They will also be available to purchase at a low service charge from selected retailers.
You can view more information on the new mounting kits at the Noctua website.
