Kingston Shows Off 256GB Data Traveller 300
Even as SSDs are making waves in the laptop market, storage systems manufacturer Kingston has come up with a teeny weeny thumb drive that has a sizeable 256GB storage capacity. This makes the Data Traveller 300 from Kingston the highest-capacity thumb drive currently available.
With so much of storage space, the Data Traveller 300 is as good as an external notebook drive and can effectively be used as one. However, it is a tiny device that can just as easily be mislaid. To ensure that you do not lose your data in such an event, Kingston has added the Password Traveller software to the drive, which allows you to set-up a password-protected Privacy Zone.
Despite this protection, the thumb drive does not require administrator rights to access the Privacy Zone. In simpler terms, the teeny Traveller 300 is as good as your personal, secure and mobile file cabinet. Kingston has also thrown in Windows ReadyBoost functionality to make the thumb drive even more attractive.
The only drawback in an otherwise versatile drive is that the Password Traveller software does not function if you enable ReadyBoost. When combined with the data read and write speeds of up to 20MB/sec and 10MB/sec respectively, the package is not exactly a bad one.
Kingston will be supplying the Data Traveller 300 as a custom made device and only in 256GB capacity. If you find the thumb drive interesting, get in touch with one of Kingston’s retailers or etailers and be ready to shell out £565.67 before VAT for your order.
