Intel X25-X Rumoured
Intel are apparently planning a value solid state drive, called the X25-X, to compliment their existing X25-M and X25-E drives. The Fudzilla crowd say the drives will boast a very modest 170MB/s read and 35MB/s write speeds, whilst using 90mW of power when in use and 75mW when idle. It is apparently based on 34nm flash memory, hence the low price, with a 65 microsecond read latency,
Whilst it is far from ground breaking, it is intended to bring competitive performance at a lower cost, some time in Q4. The drives will be available in a 2.5" form factor and a 40GB capacity,
