Oh how the mighty have fallen. A few months ago, we reported that BFG would be pulling out of the graphics card market in order to focus on some of their other ventures. At the time, they promised they would still be able to provide warranty service to already purchased cards and up until now they have been able to follow through. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case.
Customers seeking warranty service have recently begun to receive their broken cards and power supplies back along with a denial of service letter. And that's not all. These letters come bringing even more dire news. The following is a letter received by a reader of the site HardwareCanucks when they attempted to RMA a power supply.
BFG Technologies, Inc. is winding down and liquidating its business. Unfortunately our major supplier would not support our business. As a result we are returning your graphics card without being able to repair it. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Times are tough and it's sad to see a well-regarded company go down because of it. Certainly it is unfortunate that current users of their products are the ones that are really getting the shaft with the loss of warranty services. One can only hope we won't be seeing similar issues arise out of other companies anytime soon.
