ATI is working on a DirectX 11 Card
After the recent success with their RV770 and renewed DirectX 10.1 cards, ATI wants to continue the winning streak with some DirectX 11 cards.
Nobody yet knows the codename for this new chip, but so far it can be assumed to be named RV870. Our sources suggest that the RV870 will have full DirectX 11 support.
There is also word that the RV870 will launch before the official release of DirectX 11. This can only put ATI further in front of Nvidia in the graphics race. The new chip is rumoured to get released one year from now, so late Q2/early Q3 of 2009. The question is will Nvidia be able to defend against this rising giant?
