Alienware Moving Out of Ireland
Dell’s high-end gaming PC manufacturing division Alienware is closing down its Irish manufacturing operations. The impending closure has been reported by technology site Hexus.
Dell relocated its EMEA manufacturing operations from Ireland to Poland at the start of the year and rumours about Alienware following its parent company and closing down both its Irish and US manufacturing facilities have been circulating since the end of last month. Quoting sources at Alienware, Irish paper the Westmeath reported that the company was reviewing its Athlone operations.
Talking to Hexus, Annett Condon from Alienware confirmed that the company will be moving out of its Athlone site and all manufacturing will be transferred to Dell and its manufacturing partners. She added that while the company will maintain its presence in Ireland, at the moment it was not possible to confirm up to what extent.
