The Nintendo Switch dock does not boost the console's performance

It has been confirmed that the Nintendo Switch dock will not provide a performance boost to the handheld console, confirming that mobile users will get the full graphical experience.
All the Nintendo Switch's dock will do is allow gamers to easily transition between the Switch's console and portable modes, with the dock providing no additional performance to the Nintendo Switch. The dock will provide power to the Nintendo Switch and connect it to your TV, nothing more.

The Nintendo Switch Dock has been created so that it is extremely easy to seamlessly switch from playing games on a TV to transition into a portable mode,

The dock is not the main console unit of Nintendo Switch. The main unit of Nintendo Switch is the unit that has the LCD screen, which the two Joy-Con controllers can be attached to and detached from. The main function of the Nintendo Switch Dock is to provide an output to the TV, as well as charging and providing power to the system.

Right now Nintendo has not confirmed the technical specifications of the Nintendo Switch, other than the fact that it uses a Nvidia made SoC. Nintendo hasn't even confirmed if the Nintendo Switch will feature touch screen functionality.

So really it is only going to be running tablet quality games with the built in Tegra? :O I expect the price to be very very accesible, maybe 200€?Quote

There's been news of the dock actually boosting performance to bump up the resolution, from a girl who made a lot of leaks that turned out to be trueQuote

I genuinely want this to succeed but I fear as always, 3rd party support will let it down and it will go into the baron wasteland.

3rd party developers seem to be scared of Nintendo's way forward in the market. Wii was all ports, Wii U was ports, Switch...probably more ports.

Would have liked to have seen an OLED screen and a £200 price tag.
Would be very interested to see what the battery life is like....Quote
