Sony plans to discuss their PlayStation 5 console tomorrow

Yesterday, Microsoft revealed the specifications of its Xbox Series X console, and tomorrow, Sony plans to showcase its PlayStation 5 console, delivering a "deep dive into PS5's system architecture". The console wars are about to enter their next phase.

By the end of 2020, the 9th generation of consoles will have started, delivering to gamers SSD storage, ray tracing hardware and stronger CPUs and GPUs than ever before.

At 4 PM GMT (9 AM PT), Sony's Mark Cerny will provide gamers with everything they need to know about the next generation of PlayStation, hopefully giving gamers a full spec list and a look at the PlayStation 5's enclosure.

Developers have already started to talk about Sony's next-generation console, with Billy Khan, the Lead Engine Programmer at id Software, stating that the console is "awesome", on Twitter. Sony's PlayStation 5 will offer a lot more power than today's PlayStation 4 series consoles, but only time will tell if Sony has what it takes to challenge Microsoft's Xbox Series X in terms of hardware.

Watch the specs be nigh identical to Series X and show that the past 3 months of "PlayStation is doomed against Xbox hardware" articles were just clickbait.

I suspect it'll be pretty close again like current gen original launches. Software will win the day I feel. Especially since past Sony talks have mentioned price being incredibly important and a huge factor that I don't believe they will win both hardware/software like they did this gen. Just puts more focus on games.

On the other hand the gaming industry seems to be trying to do cross-platform/play so in that sense it also may not matter in a few years and more powerful hardware/user experience will win the generationQuote

Yeah software could be a strong determining factor if things end up close again, seems like Microsoft have a heavy response to catch up on the game side of the software occasion, lets see if Sony will also commit to catching up with the OS/multimedia/applications and most importantly marketplace/licensing/deals.Quote
