Microsoft's Disk-Free Xbox One S Leaks Online with May Release Date

It looks like Microsoft's Xbox One S "All Digital" announcement is imminent, with the group's next Inside Xbox event being scheduled for tomorrow and leaks of the console becoming available through various sources.

The idea behind the Xbox One S "All Digital" is simple. Make the Xbox One S as cheap as possible while incentivising the use of Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass service, which grants Xbox owners access to hundreds of gaming titles digitally through a monthly subscription.

Now, boxart for the console has leaked via WinFuture, who has also revealed a game bundle which includes Minecraft, Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon 3. The bundle is also set to include free trials for Xbox Live and Xbox Game Pass, giving gamers access to a larger game library for a limited time.

Judging from the boxart of the Xbox One S "All Digital" system, Microsoft has opted to use the same enclosure as their standard Xbox One S, minus the console's disk drive. This makes the console the same size as a standard Xbox One S, though the lack of a disk drive will make the new version more lightweight and perhaps a little less power hungry and better ventilated. The console is also said to ship with a 1TB HDD.

Microsoft's new console is said to release on May 7th in Europe. WinFuture lists a launch price of €229 in Europe, with the console supporting the same features as the standard Xbox One S, minus its ability to play disk-based media. 4K output support and HDR support will be available on Microsoft's new Xbox One S.
