Microsoft officially reveals their Surface Book 2 notebook

To coincide with the release of Window 10's Fall Creators Update, Microsoft has decided to reveal their upcoming Surface Book 2 notebook, which comes with some large design and hardware improvements over the company's original version.

To start off, Microsoft has decided to release this new notebook in both 15-inch and 13.5-inch form factors, with each model releasing for $2,499 and $1,499 respectively for their base models. These new notebooks are Microsoft's MacBook Pro equivalents, offering ultra-high resolution screens high levels of build quality and some unique design options.
This notebook has the ability to detach its own screen to become a tablet, though doing so will prevent these notebooks from utilising the product's dedicated GPU, which is present in the keyboard section of the product (Basic 13.5-inch models do not include a dedicated GPU). Both models will start off with a 256GB NVMe SSD, though both offer options to purchase 512GB and 1TB SSD options at the time of purchase.

The basic model of the 15-inch variant will come with a 3240x2160 display, an 8th generation Intel i7 8650U quad-core CPU (max boost clock of 4.2GHz), 16GB of RAM and a GTX 1060 6GB GPU.

Microsoft's smaller 13.5-inch version will lack a dedicated GPU in its basic configuration but will release with a 3000x2000 screen, a 7th generation Intel i5 dual core with 8GB of memory, though this version is available with the same i7 8650U and 16GB of memory as its larger counterpart and with a GTX 1050 2GB GPU.

Both of these notebooks are said to offer up to 17 hours of battery life when playing video (in notebook mode), with the device offering a reduced battery life when used as a tablet (without the keyboard/dock attached). Both versions will also feature a backlit keyboard and support Dolby Atmos headphones.

This device will also feature a 5MP front-facing camera and an 8MP rear-facing camera, showing exactly how much Microsoft is pushing this device as both a tablet and a PC.

Both of these devices will be charged using a USB Type-C cable, with both versions also featuring an SD card slot and several USB Type-A connections.

Preorders are set to go live for this device on November 9th in certain markets, with an official release date of November 16th.
