Gateway Introduces New NV Series Notebooks

The Gateway NV SeriesGateway today followed up its recent AMD based notebook launch with the release of a new series of 15.6in notebooks. According to the manufacturer, each notebook of the new series is “a workhorse entertainment notebook that pairs the latest notebook technologies and important one-touch buttons with excellent style at an affordable price.”

Dubbed the NV series, the notebooks are available on both AMD and Intel Platforms. While the AMD one features an AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.10GHz CPU, the Intel model has an Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 processor also clocked at 2.10GHz. Both models have 4GB of DDR2 RAM, with graphics support on the AMD version coming from an ATI Radeon HD 3200 card, while the Intel system has an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD card.

Storage is in the form of a 320GB SATA HDD, while connectivity options include Gigabit LAN and 802.11b/g/n WiFi. Also included in the specifications are four USB ports, D-Sub and HDMI outputs, Bluetooth, integrated card reader, integrated webcam and an 8x DVD SuperMulti optical drive. Both notebooks come with a standard 6-cell Lithium Ion battery.

Among the special features of the notebooks are two buttons – MyBackup and PowerSave. Located conveniently above the keyboard, the MyBackup button activates an auto backup function that makes copies of the entire system without the need for a third-party application. The PowerSave button on the other hand removes the need for users to run through complex power-setting options. When activated, the PowerSave button extends the available battery life to allow prolonged usage.

Available in four attractive colours, the AMD based NV series notebook weighs in at 3.1kg and is priced at $499.99. The Intel based system weighs lighter 2.65kg while carrying a higher price tag of $599.99.
