Silicon Motion has announced their new SATA FerriSSD single-chip SSD, which uses 3D NAND and offers capacities of up to 256GB. 

These new SSDs are designed to be integrated directly into small form factor PCs, mobile devices and other systems, offering a large storage capacity in a 20mmx16mm BGA form factor.    

Silicon Motion’s new FerriSSDs are designed to be usable in a wide range of circumstances with high levels of reliability, supporting full ECC protection through the use of NANDXtend technology.

These new SSDs will offer high speeds and capacities in an attractively small package, making this SSD perfect for small ultrabooks, tablets and other mobile devices, though these modules could be integrated into an M.2 form factor to create a compact M.2 SATA SSD.
