We all know how slow portable storage devices can be, whether it be a cheap flash drive or a larger mechanical HDD. Yes, faster USB memory pens are available, but they are nothing when compared to modern SSD storage solutions.

For many years now Samsung has been offering top tier portable SSD performance with their T-series of storage devices, with each generation offering more performance than the last. Now Samsung has updated their latest portable SSD, the T5 with the company's new 64-layer V-NAND and with full support for USB 3.1 Gen 2, which allows this SSD to outperform most modern desktop grade SATA SSDs.

Samsung goes so far as to say that this SSD offers 100MB/s higher transfer speeds than their older T3 model, with Samsung's new T5 models coming without any real pricing increase when compared to its older counterparts.

Below are the UK MSRPs of Samsung's latest portable SSD solutions. All of these SSDs will be backed up with a three-year warranty.

250GB – £125.49 (Alluring Blue)

500GB - £192.49 (Alluring Blue)

1TB – £384.89 (Deep Black)

2TB - £759.49 (Deep Black)

With dimensions of 74 x 57.3 x 10.5 millimetres, Samsung's T5 series of SSDs can fit comfortably in the palm of your hand, especially given its carry weight of just 51 grams.

This SSD's aluminium casing and its use of NAND will also ensure that this drive is drop resistant, which is something that can't be said for many portable HDD solutions. Samsung rates this SSD with an accidental drop resistance of up to two meters, which means that this SSD should easily withstand and drop from a users fingers or from any desktop.

Not impressed. Just as fast as a sata 3 despite it's higher bandwidth, yet costs an absurd amount honestly. It'd be cheaper to buy a Sata3 SSD and just buy an external cover for itQuote
