Sabrent's working with Phison to create a push the limits of PCIe 5.0 with their next-generation Rocket X5 SSD

Sabrent are currently working on their first PCIe 5.0 compatible SSD, and while many manufacturers have already launched PCIe 5.0 drives, Sabrent's working with Phison to ensure that their upcoming Rocket X5 to deliver performance levels that surpass the norm.

Many of the first PCIe 5.0 SSDs to hit the market can deliver sequential read speeds of 10,000 MB/s, but Phison is aiming higher than that. Sabrent wants their upcoming Rocket X5 SSD to deliver 14,000 MB/s read speeds, surpassing early PCIe 5.0 SSDs by as much as 40%. So far, Sabrent's in-development Rocket X5 SSDs have been able to achieve sequential read speeds of 12,000 MB/s barrier, and Sabrent expects their SSD's performance to improve over time.

When speaking with Tweaktown, Sabrent representatives have stated that "We aim to improve that and increase the performance as high as possible," and that "technology is limiting us at this point". Below is a CrystalDiskMark chart showcasing the performance of Sabrent's current Rocket X5 1TB prototype.

Sabrent's PCIe 5.0 Rocket X5 SSD is not a finalised product, so do not expect Sabrent's next-generation PCIe 5.0 SSD to become available on store shelves anytime soon. Sabrent has teased that they have "many new groundbreaking products we will release soon", which leaves us excited to see what Sabrent has in store for us.
