Plextor announces their M8Pe PCIe and M.2 SSDs

When we reviewed the Plextor M6e PCIe/M.2 SSD back in 2014 we hailed it as being one of the fastest SSDs of its time, easily beating out any SATA SSD and being able to be used through PCIe or through the new M.2 interface.

Now with NVMe standard arriving and the M.2 form factor becoming more common on new motherboards we have really been looking forward to seeing Plextor and other SSD manufacturers bring to market faster and faster SSDs, revolutionizing the way enthusiasts look at storage.

Now things are starting to really move forward, with Plextor announcing their new NVMe offerings that will be battling it out with the likes of Intel and Samsung in the high-end storage wars.

Plextor's new M8Pe is their newest NVMe SSD that will be making use of Marvell's 88SS1093 storage controller and 15nm NAND in order to provide SSDs with speeds that easily beat anything that uses the aging SATA 3 and AHCI protocol. This SSD will be available in M.2 and PCIe card form factors, making this SSD compatible pretty much almost any modern PC.

Right now we do not have pricing information on Plextor's M8Pe SSD, but Plextor expects to be shipping this SSD by the end of June.
