Kingston promises “record-breaking” performance with its DataTraveler Max USB 3.2 Gen 2 Flash Drives

Kingston Technology has launched its fastest USB flash storage device to date, offering “record-breaking” speeds of up to 1,000 MB/s reads and 900 MB/s writes, pretty much saturating the device’s USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface. Meet the Kingston DataTraveler Max USB 3.2 Gen 2, a compact USB thumb drive that delivers ultra-fast speed and incredible portability.

Previously, this level of performance was available from M.2 NVMe SSDs within USB 3.2 Gen 2 enclosures. While M.2 SSDs are small, M.2 SSD enclosures are not as portable and easy to use as standard thumb drives. That said, Thumb drives often lack the speed needed to transfer multi-gigabyte files and folders quickly. The DataTraveler Max USB 3.2 Gen 2 is designed to make large data transfers faster while retaining the standard thumb drive form factor.

Using USB Type-C, Kingston’s DataTraveler Max USB 3.2 Gen 2 supports most modern PCs and laptops. The drive can even be used with Type-C compatible mobile phones. With 256GB to 1TB capacities, this drive will be perfect for moving high-resolution video files, large libraries of photographs and other data-heavy content.

In a world filled with cheap flash drives that offer lowly write speeds as bad a 10 MB/s, Kingston’s DataTraveler Max USB 3.2 Gen 2 should offer many customers a breath of fresh air with its 900 MB/s max write speeds. A few years ago, 900 MB/s would have been considered as excellent speeds for internal drives, but now, these speeds are available from premium flash drives. If you want a high-speed flash drive, options are available.

What follows is Kingston’s Press Release.

PR – Kingston Digital Ships Record-Breaking DataTraveler Max USB 3.2 Gen 2 Flash Drive

Kingston Digital, Inc., the flash memory affiliate of Kingston Technology Company, Inc., a world leader in memory products and technology solutions, today announced it is shipping DataTraveler Max, a high performance Type-C USB leveraging the latest USB 3.2 Gen 2 standard. DataTraveler Max (DT Max) delivers record-breaking speeds up to 1,000 MB/s read and 900 MB/s write to make it one of the fastest USB drives on the market and the first of its kind.
