Galax/KFA2 plans to release Phison-based NVMe SSDs

Galax/KFA2 has plans to release Phison-based NVMe SSDs in the future in both the M.2 and PCIe form factors. Previously we have seen this SSD in the form of the Galax/KFA2 HOF series PCIe SSD, which was rated with read speeds of 2600MB/s and write speeds of 1300MB/s.

This SSD is currently said to be in the final stage of KFA2/Galax's Validation process, which makes us expect that this SSD will come sometime within the next few months.

Now we see this SSD with a black coloured PCB, instead of the white version shown on the PCIe SSD above and as an M.2 SSD. Right now we do not know if Galax still plans to release their white HOF series SSD to the market, or if they will use the same design to create a more mainstream/affordable design.

Right now the NVMe SSD market lacks competition, with manufacturers like Intel and Samsung effectively owning the market. Recently we have seen Corsair release their MP500 series of SSDs and expect to see other manufacturers follow suit in early 2017, finally giving PC builders a decent selection of components to choose from when buying an NVMe SSD.
