Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus has been announced

Bethesda has officially announced Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, which will come as a sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order and will be based on the id Tech 6 engine, the same engine that was used for DOOM 2016.

The events of The New Order had only a minor effect on the Nazi Empire, who were easily able to maintain their stranglehold on the world after the assassination of General Deathshead. Now BJ Blazkowicz and his allies must unite American rebels under a single banner and work to liberate the US from Nazi occupation.

As players fight the Nazi war machine they will be greeted with a lot of advanced weaponry, with standard rifles, submachine guns and pistols as well as laser weaponry and flamethrowers. The game will also have a built-in upgrade system, so players will be able to adjust their weapons to their liking.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is the highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed first-person shooter, Wolfenstein: The New Order developed by the award-winning studio MachineGames.

An exhilarating adventure brought to life by the industry-leading id Tech 6, Wolfenstein II sends players to Nazi-controlled America on a mission to recruit the boldest resistance leaders left. Fight the Nazis in iconic locations such as small-town Roswell, New Mexico, the flooded streets of New Orleans, and a post-nuclear Manhattan. Equip an arsenal of badass guns, and unleash new abilities to blast your way through legions of advanced Nazi soldiers, cyborgs, and über soldiers in this definitive first-person shooter.

America, 1961. Your assassination of Nazi General Deathshead was a short-lived victory. Despite the setback, the Nazis maintain their stranglehold on the world. You are BJ Blazkowicz, aka “Terror-Billy,” member of the Resistance, scourge of the Nazi empire, and humanity’s last hope for liberty. Only you have the guts, guns, and gumption to return stateside, kill every Nazi in sight, and spark the second American Revolution.

Using the id Tech 6 engine, Wolfenstein II will likely come with support for the Vulkan API at launch on PC, though this is unconfirmed at this time.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will release on October 27th on Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4.
