Warcraft I & II are now available Digitally on GOG

Since launch, both Warcraft I and II have been exclusive to disk-based formats, having never launched digitally on storefronts like Steam or Blizzard’s own Battle/net client.

Now, things have changed, with the release of Warcraft I and II on GOG, launching as DRM-free downloads which offer modern features like cloud saves and support for modern operating systems. PC gamers can now access these titles without the series’ original disks, making these digital versions great options for longtime fans or newcomers to the series.

With Kul Tiras returning to the Alliance in World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, the addition of Warcraft II to digital gaming platforms will allow PC gamers to revisit the game which initially brought the kingdom into the series. Warcraft II is now known as Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition, as online multiplayer will be available within this new version of the game, though LAN gameplay is also possible.

Both Warcraft I and II are playable on Windows 7, 8 and 10, with Warcraft: Orcs and Humans being playable on MacOS as well. When downloaded, both games will take up around 1.1GB of storage space. Warcraft II Battle.net Edition will include the game’s two expansion packs, Tides of Darkness and Beyond the Dark Portal, both of which add additional story content to the game.
