Valve's Steam Link App is now available on Android

Valve has officially released their Steam Link app on Android operating systems, allowing Android TV and mobile users to stream PC games to anywhere on your local network.

Users of this app can use Android compatible gamepads to play their PC games on their televisions or mobile devices, though Valve recommends that their users make use of either 3thernet of 5GHz WiFi for optimal playback with minimal latency. An iOS version of this app will be available on May 21st, with the Android version of the app being labelled as a "BETA".

Valve's upcoming iOS version of their Steam Link app is set to be a stable release, likely due to the tighter hardware controls within the iOS ecosystem. Android is a much more varied ecosystem, providing a lot of room for device-specific incompatibilities, bugs or other issues.

The Steam Link app brings desktop gaming to your Android device. Just pair a Bluetooth controller or Steam Controller to your device, connect to a computer running Steam on the same local network, and start playing your existing Steam games.

For best performance with Android TV:
* Connect your computer using Ethernet to your router
* Connect your Android TV using Ethernet to your router

For best performance with tablets and phones:
* Connect your computer using Ethernet to your 5GHz WiFi router
* Connect your Android device to the 5GHz band of your WiFi network
* Keep your Android device within a reasonable range of your router
