To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Unreal, Epic Games is offering PC gamers a free copy of Unreal Gold on GOG and Steam. Unreal is a classic shooter that was released in 1998, acting as the developer’s answer to Quake 2, serving as a starting point for the developer’s world-famous Unreal Game Engine.

Epic Games is now one of the biggest games in the video game industry, with developers using their technology worldwide to games which range from Gear of War 4 to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.

Unreal is the game that started it all, with Unreal Gold bundling together the original game alongside all of the game’s post-launch content and mission packs. This version of the game includes 47 single player missions, 13 weapons, 20 multiplayer maps and five online game modes.

Like most titles from this era, Unreal can run on almost any modern Windows PC, with the GOG version listing support for Windows 10 and a file size of 223.2 MB.
