The Sims 4 is currently available for free

For the next week, The Sims 4 will be available for free on EA's Origin platform, granting PC gamers access to the base game without any of the title's DLC. 

The Sims 4 currently runs on both Windows PCs and MacOS, enabling the game to run on a wide range of systems, especially when combined the title's low hardware requirements.    

This offer is available until May 28th at 10 am PDT, with the only requirement for access to the game being a free EA Origin account. Please note that this version of the game does not come with any of the title's DLC packs.

Below are The Sims 4's official PC system requirements for Windows-powered PCs. 

MINIMUM SPECS:

OS: Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1), Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10
CPU: 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, AMD Athlon 64 Dual-Core 4000+ or equivalent (For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.0 GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-62 or equivalent)
RAM: At least 2 GB RAM
HARD DRIVE: At least 14 GB of free space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content and saved games
VIDEO: 128 MB of Video RAM and support for Pixel Shader 3.0. Supported Video Cards: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or better, ATI Radeon X1300 or better, Intel GMA X4500 or better
DIRECTX: DirectX 9.0c compatible
SOUND CARD: DirectX 9.0c Compatible
INPUT: Keyboard and Mouse
ONLINE REQUIREMENTS: Internet connection required for product activation.

RECOMMENDED SPECS:

OS: 64 Bit Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or 10
PROCESSOR: Intel core i5 or faster, AMD Athlon X4
VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GTX 650 or better
MEMORY: 4 GB RAM
HARD DRIVE: 18 GB of Hard Drive space

Funnily enough, I don't have the game and it won't let me "buy" it for myself, it will only let me get it as a gift for someone else lol

Is Origin using some sort of AI to determine if you are going to play a game and if you are probably not then you cannot buy it?Quote

Perhaps its based on location location location.

I do know in the past some freebies were only EU/Nordic/USA. Maybe same thing here.Quote

It was doing that to me earlier as well. Now it is letting me claim it properly.Quote
