'The only BR we're interested in is Battle Rifle' says Halo Infinite developer

Back in E3 2018, Microsoft revealed Halo Infine, showcasing a graphically impressive trailer for the game and 343 Industries new Slipspace engine, promising to deliver the game as an exclusive for both Xbox One and Windows 10-powered PCs.

On the Halo Mixer channel, during a recent livestream, 343 writer Jeff Easterling (known as Grim Brother One online) commented on several questions from the Halo community, including one which asked if the game would feature a Battle Royale mode.

In recent months, Battle Royale modes have been announced for most AAA online shooters, including both Battlefield V and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, leaving many to wonder whether or not the Halo series would suffer the same fate.

In response to the question, Easterling said the following that “I’ll tell you right now, the only BR we’re interested in is Battle Rifle. The original BR. So, calm yourself.” This response indicates that there will be no Battle Royale mode in Halo Infinite, allowing the game to focus on its traditional multiplayer modes and its story-driven single-player campaign.

Halo Infinite isn't expected to release anytime soon, with many expecting the game to release as an exclusive launch title for Microsoft's next-generation Xbox console, though this conflicts with Microsoft's claim that the game would be available on Xbox One. Even so, Halo Infinite could become a cross-generation release like the Wii U's/Nintendo Switch's Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

I think a BR would suit this game. Hopefully after launch a free update will bring it inQuote

This "Battle Royale" Nonsense has gone far enough and I applaud the devs for putting it to a stop.
