The Ghost Recon: Wildlands beta is now available to Preload

The Ghost Recon: Wildlands beta is now available to preload, with the open beta taking place this weekend between February 23rd and 27th.

This new open beta will be completely open to the public and will contain a substantial amount of additional content when compared to the game's closed beta, with an extra region/province and an exclusive mission called "Unidad Conspiracy". This game can either be played alone or with up to four friends through online Co-op.

The game's open beta will require 50GB of hard drive space and a minimum of either a GTX 660 or an R9 270 GPU, with the game requiring at least 2GB of VRAM and 6GB of system memory.

While the game recommends four CPU cores, with either an Intel i5 2400S or an AMD FX 4320, though it is expected that the game will run well on a modern Intel i3 (with 2 cores four 4 threads) or a Kaby Lake series Pentium, which are the first Pentium CPUs to feature hyperthreading.

The content of this new open beta will be the same as the previous closed beta, though this new beta version will as add new province called Montuyoc, which contains a few heavily defended strongholds.

If you didn’t get a chance to participate in the Ghost Recon Wildlands Closed Beta, we’ve got some good news! The Ghost Recon Wildlands Open Beta starts February 23 (with preloading available February 21), giving you an opportunity to squad up with the Ghosts and get a preview of what it will be like to take on the Santa Blanca drug cartel on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Running through February 27, this Open Beta features all of the same content found in the Closed Beta and more, including an additional province to explore called Montuyoc. Set in the Bolivian Altiplano region, this province contains heavily defended strongholds where the Santa Blanca trains some of its toughest soldiers.

Is there any point to this 'beta'? the full game's out in next Friday, they're not going to be able to fix any issues before it comes out - it's just a PR exercise.Quote

It's basically an early demo.

They have had multiple Closed Alphas/Betas already. So it's not like they aren't using it for testing things outside network stuff.

I think it's pretty smart from Ubisoft. They are changing how they release games and having more betas and getting more people involved. By giving everyone an Open Beta they get to try the game, if they like it, more sales. It really won't hurt them tbh. If someone is really bored and they see a new game that they can try they never heard about, they start playing this beta, probably like it(it's a shooter, everyone buys shooters for some reason) they get another sale. Then word of mouth, etc etc.Quote
