The Epic Games Store now features hassle-free refunds

The Epic Games Store is the new kid on the block when it comes to PC gaming storefronts, and that has left it far behind its main rival, Steam, when it comes to features. Now, Epic Games has confirmed that Self-Service Refunds are now available on its games store, and that Achievements and a Mod Marketplace are coming soon to the platform.

Like Steam, Epic Games' self-service refunds will allow PC gamers to refund their purchases if they meet two criteria. First, gamers will need to ask for a refund within 14 days of purchasing their game, and second, they need to have played less than two hours of their game to receive a refund.

This refund policy is identical to Steam, and like Valve, Epic Games plans to revoke a gamer's eligibility for refunds if they are found to be abusing their refund policy.

Below is what Epic Games has to say about its new Self Service refunds system.

We've recently enabled the ability to self-refund qualifying purchases online by yourself. When you sign into your account on the Epic Games website, click the "Account" dropdown in the top right corner of the webpage, go to the "Transactions" tab and click the game title. If the game is eligible for a self-service refund, please click the "Refund" option to initiate the refund process.

All games are eligible for a refund within 14 days of purchase for any reason. However, you must not have played more than 2 hours.

You will not be eligible for games from which you have been banned or for which you have otherwise violated the terms of service. In addition, you may not be eligible for refunds if Epic determines that you are abusing the refund policy.

This is law, IIRC. However with Brexit I have no idea what will happen in the UK with these laws.Quote

They already provided refunds, now you don't even need to contact a person to get them. That's why the headline is "hassle-free" refunds.

Who knows what things will look like legally, it's difficult enough to get a straight answer from the Government for simple matters.Quote

Yeah that's a good idea. Saves them hassle I suppose, and hiring more staff to process refunds.Quote
