Last month, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger was removed from Steam without warning, suddenly reappearing on the platform under a new publisher, Techland Publishing, a relatively new division within Techland.

While Call of Juarez: Gunslinger has returned to Steam, Call of Juarez: The Cartel hasn't, likely due to the title's negative reviews which often rated the game at below 50%. If Techland has plans to develop a new Call of Juarez title, it makes sense to erase this stain on the series' legacy.

While the Call of Juarez series originates from Techland, several of the games were published through Ubisoft. With Techland's plans to become a global games publisher, the company wants to regain control of their original IP, leading them to acquire Call of Juarez: Gunslinger from Ubisoft.  Below is a comment from Techland Publishing's CPO Adam Lason.

As Techland Publishing moves forward as a leading publisher, we are delighted to welcome Call of Juarez: Gunslinger to our publishing division,

We would like to thank Ubisoft for its incredible work publishing the Call of Juarez games. We'll continue the great efforts of Ubisoft and support the fans of the Call of Juarez universe in the same dutiful and passionate way

In recent years, Techland has found success with their Zombie Survival game Dying Light and its The Following expansion. Dying Light's success cannot be understated, receiving an incredibly positive reception from both gamers and critics alike.

To celebrate the return of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger to Steam, the game is currently available with a 33% discount, making the game £7.33 in the UK.

CoJ: Bound in Blood is a great game but Gunslinger is just outright phenomenal. It's the only FPS game in the last 10 years or so that I've bothered not only to complete to 100% but to replay over and over again. It's so well made. Hopefully they'll make a new one soon.Quote
